Enjoyed this walk thanks to Dave Horney. Follows a lot of field paths and tracks but easy to walk and follow. Some walking on minor roads. In my opinion this walk has some of the best views in the area and Caydale is Dave's favourite valley. You can only walk across it as we did. An old canal used to supply water to inhabitants downstream (obviously) which can be seen as a horizontal edge on the south part of the valley and is marked on the 2.5" map. Cadell?. We parked at the top of sneck yate bank but a new car park has been built at the junction between Cleveland Road and Whethercot Lane.
I called it Peak Scar Circular as there is no village or town. I enjoyed many hours in my youth climbing on Peak Scar but now hardly climbed. (you can tell by the lack of cars that would park at the top of the crag). A few old photos of Malc Nobel and John Hibbert on "Wings".
For me, one of the best views in North Yorkshire.
Linseed. Another blue crop.
Sadly, (depending on your point of view) a beautiful valley becoming overgrown with hawthorn.
