This walk is amazing, there isn't a single moment that is not interesting. Starting from the Campsite at Keswick head away from the lake into Keswick and across the bridge. Now head back towards Catbells. It is surprisingly quite a way to the start of the climb (2.5 miles) but the walk through the woods before is lovely. The climb up to catbells is quite tough in places i.e. you need to use your hands a couple of times for short sections but don't be put off this is totally possible. After Catbells head down and now it is flat for the rest of the walk. We wanted coffee but found the hotels at the bottom end of Derwent not really our thing and were overpriced for mediocre "filter" coffee. The walk back along the edge of the lake is lovely.
The only way I could find to cross the river, it was a fairly big detour from the campsite!
A very nice approach to the start of Catbells
It said 1 hour to the top, it took us 40 mins but we are fast walkers
Had to have a pint of Wainwright in the Wainwright pub!
