Descripció de l'itinerari

Anfeh (a small beautiful town on Mediterranean the shore) in Batroun region of North Lebanon; the town is nicknamed Anforini for its similarity to Greece towns with its white painted homes and blue windows and doors. Anfeh was famous for its salt industry; The decline is salt prices and globalization, the migration to the big cities lead people to abandon this industry; there is only two salines currently operating.
This was an easy (a bit long) hike perfect for the early spring weather (rained on us and had to navigate muddy terrains); the views are beautiful with many churches, ruins, and sea resorts along the way.
Also, if you are into arts, there is the Nabu Museum to check out on your way back. Nice paintings and archeological artifacts from the region are on display; I did buy a mug there :)

Anforini Peninsula

This part of Anfeh looks like Greece towns with its white painted houses and their blue windows and doors. This strip was also a Phoenician Emirate at some point where a trench was carved out of the rocks to separate this entity from mainland to discourage would-be invaders.

White Church

This hike started because of this church. This white church, in the middle of nowhere, is visible from the M51 highway connecting Beirut with Tripoli. Curiosity get us to explore the area with the aim of reaching it; well, it turned out it was just an ordinary church but the rest of the trail was BEAUTIFUL.

Olive Orchards

The trail goes through orchards after orchards of olive trees. The rain made thispart of the trail muddy and messy.

Railway Tracks

Not so long ago, there was a network of railways connecting Lebanese main cities/regions and Lebanon with neighboring countries. This is a testament to a bygone era.
