However, in the pouring rain and high winds none of the views are available. We set off thinking that the weather would improve and by the time we reached the top were proved very wrong. At this point we decided it was just as easy to continue as to return via the original part - we were already as wet as we were going to be. Possibly the only miscalculation here was that the wind blowing across the top of the mountain for the second half of the walk was severe.
Take care to arrive (and leave) via Abergavenny Road (B4246) - our GPS gave us a return route using one of the minor roads that meets Abergavenny Road just near the walk and it was a slightly hair raising drive along the side of a very steep slope on a 0.9 lane wide road...
