This is one of the best known hiking trails in Norway. It is a 7-8 hours hike at a moderate speed. The main Besseggen ridge is relatively easy to traverse in dry weather, but caution is needed when hiking in wet conditions. Note that there is easy access to good drinking water on the first half of the hike (when starting from Memurubu), but next to no water on the second half when approaching the Besseggen main ridge. I recommend hiking with a light day pack and using the Gjende boat service to transport rest of gear and baggage to Gjendesheim.

We did this trail at the beggining of august. Trip corresponded with provided information. I can add that it was a little bit crowdy, views perfect. The boat from Gjendesheim goes more often if there are many visitors in the season. There was a taxi from further parking place to Gjendesheim for free.

We did this in the opposite direction. Gjendesheim - Besseggen - Memurubu We did because of the number of people trying to get on to the boat. Make sure you get you ticket number as early in the morning as possible if you taking the boat to Memurubu. There is a DNV overnighter at Memurubu which we contacted while on the trail to get a meal and a place to stay. They will not turn anyone away in case you decide to it in the direction we did it. It took much longer than it should for us because we stopped for photos.
