The hike starts at the gate for No Hands bride at the Confluence in Auburn and proceeds up at a steep/strenuous climb of 1k-feet elevation gain in .9-miles approximately .2-miles into the hike. The junction of training hill and western states is well marked and easy to spot. Once the summit is reached the hike is an easy and beautiful walk across the fields of Olmstead and down the Western States trail to your starting point. The above route provides three distinct portions of hiking from aerobic (Training Hill aka Pointed Rocks) to rolling hills studded with oaks and granite (Olmstead) to a wooded trail with several creeks and wildflowers depending on the season (Western States). An added bonus is No Hands Bridge a historic bridge built in 1912 to move limestone from the Auburn Quarry to nearby processing plants.
